It has been really difficult for me to put into words how I am feeling about the blatant racism at the forefront of the American experience. I wish I could write it all out but I can’t.
All I know is my heart races thinking about my husband taking out the trash or my brother going for a 10K run.
What if they never come back?
With a little help here is my official statement on the murder of black men and women in America.
“This is a moment in history where everything will change forever. Black communities will not stand for state-sanctioned acts of violence against us. We will cry out until our voices are heard. We will march in unison until we are seen. We will band together to protect ourselves and our loved ones. As you are reading this, take a moment to reflect on this pivotal time in history, and ask yourself, how will you share in the desire for justice?”
– Aquila Farrell
Aquila and team are deeply heartbroken by the murder of Breona Taylor, George Floyd, Dion Johnson, and Ahmaud Arbery. As a small team of black women, it is clear to us that these horrific events took place as a direct result of institutionalized racism in the United States – a reality that we experience every day. If we ever hope to reach a safe and secure future for our black communities, we must come together and put forth contribution, in one form or another, to the Black Lives Matter movement.
For her part, Aquila pledges a donation to the Black Lives Matter fund. Through this donation, Aquila hopes to continue to empower and supply the individuals who are fearlessly working on the front lines of this movement.
