Last weekend, I was in Brooklyn for a family wedding. It was a great experience with my family and friends. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to capture some fashionable moments in New York.

I met up with Cesar Isabel, a photographer, Parsons graduate and owner of Photofactory29 . Along with his team, we were determined to try to portray the vibes of Brooklyn in photography. We headed to Dumbo, Brooklyn and took a few hours to explore the city with the help of photography.

These powerful photos are the start of my September denim series.

Denim is definitely on trend this season but in a different way. Who are we really fooling? Everyone wears denim everyday, all the time but Gucci set the pace of what denim should look like this season. We are talking embellishments, embroidery, sequins, painted printed, fringe, asymmetrical hems, are all being worn with and on denim.

With all of these great modifications, we must remember the simplicity of a denim shirt. I paired this denim shirt from Wal-Mart with a cable knit dress from Zara, So Kates Louboutins, a DIY Jean choker and my Chanel pin. I immediately have a streetstyle worthy look to strut my stuff in Brooklyn.
Styles by Tiffany Dawn spruced up my hair and my Celine sunnies were perfect for a hot day.

So if you don’t like this look, switch the dress out for a white tank, denim jeans and a bright lip and you  are ready for NYC.

Thank you Brooklyn for bringing the heat when I brought the heat.
