I was a Louboutin Bride. I didn’t plan to be but it… just… happened (Remember the Fresh Prince episode with his dad?). Ha!The issue with my wedding day shoes was that I wanted traditional white satin shoes. It’s a Trini thing. Wearing white satin shoes on your wedding day is straight traditional and borderline old-fashioned. Does your culture mandate white satin shoes? Ha! Well, they don’t mandate it but it is the shoe that you are expected to wear.
Some brides want the pop of colour shoe, some want the flat delicate lace shoe or even chucks taylor sneakers. I was set on white satin shoes no matter what! However, looking for wedding appropriate white satin shoes was very difficult. The shoes available were either flat, ugly or too high. Sigh! I decided to search online and stumbled upon the Christian Louboutin site. There were so many cute styles in white satin, with a moderate heel.
I decided on the Christian Louboutin You You Sling 100mm.
They were a part of the Louboutin ” Something Blue” collection
for brides which featured a blue leather insole.
I was sold.
The beauty of white satin shoes is the flexibility of dyeing them after the wedding. After I wore them on my wedding day, I dyed them black. Pretty much a two for one deal. Now, I have a black pair of wearable, practical Louboutins full of wedding day memories.
Surprisingly, my husband gifted me a pair of Valentinos that he picked out for me on my wedding day! OMG! I was totally geeked. In the pics below, I switched my Louboutins for Valentinos!
A moment I won’t forget!
To this day, they are one of my favourite pairs of shoes.
Now I wear them all the time and I am reminded about my wedding day.
Treasured!
