Breast Cancer. Sigh. It is a killer but it is also the cause of survival, strength and a sense of purpose. Many have died from breast cancer, yet many have survived. It hurts to see your family and friends, your Mother, Sister or Aunt suffer with breast cancer, yet it is also inspirational to see how some have survived. I find strength in their stories and often ask myself… “ Aquila, would you be able to go through this?”.
In October, I think about my best friend’s mom, Auntie Es who fought breast cancer, succumbed to the disease and is now resting in peace. It was hard to see her fight. It was hard to see my bestie worried. But together, mother and daughter supported each other as they worked to fight breast cancer.
And then there are the scare stories. There are women who have had to wait 3-4 days to hear the news about the mysterious lump found while doing a self- examination.
Once again I ask myself…
“ Aquila, would you be able to go through this?”.
I really don’t know if I could do it but I do know that around me there is an amazing support system to help me through.
The Breast Cancer Survivors… I salute you
To those who have passed… I salute you… may you rest in peace.
This is not a look of the day post but it is coming from my heart.
