Canada Day Looks

Filed in: Fashion

Picture

So it’s Canada Day weekend. You are going away for two nights. You are so excited for this weekend getaway. Sailing, chilling by the lake and hanging out on patios are all on the agenda.
You can only take one overnight bag though.
Crazy right?

You may think this is unrealistic, but it has happened to me so many times.
One bag.
Two nights and you still gotta rock out.

Let’s start with what to carry in the overnight bag. Along with your toiletries, pretty nighties, undies and accessories etc. Here are the 8 pieces I would pack:

Jean Shorts
Jean Shirt
White Dress Shirt
Leggings
Wedges
Sneakers
Nude Strappy sandals
Fun Scarf

With these pieces you should be able to create quick fun looks that will make you feel great. To help you and as inspiration, I have put together some looks using these eight pieces over the weekend.

Streamlined Casual

Shirt: Ben Sherman Shoes: Converse Jeans: Esprit Sunnies: Celine

I have fallen in love with jean shorts and a white dress shirt. Remember my post on white dress shirts? Yeah, I am still obsessed.  Converse is my favorite casual sneaker and do not hurt my feet. This aqua colour is a cute and adds an unexpected brush of colour. This look is simple and great for running errands ie. grocery store runs for burger buns and mustard.
Jean shorts. White dress shirt. Sunnies.
Boom!

Appetizers and Apps

Time to head out for Appetizers (yum) and apps meaning photos for Instagram and Facebook. You have to look polished yet cool and like you are not trying. Remember we are using only eight pieces. Time to switch it up.

In the evening you can switch out the Converse shoes for some cool comfy wedges. Take your scarf and turn it into a choker. Pin on a few pins. Throw on your wedges. Change the hair. Smile.

,
I associate Canada Day with boating. I don’t know why. I love boats and being on a boat, so maybe that’s  why. Though a boat ride can get wet, cotton and jeans can keep you cozy. A jean shirt can be used in a fun way with leggings. I chose red leggings because it is Canada Day! Yay! But you can wear black ones if you prefer. Take the risk with the red ones. O, Canada.
Nude sandals are a good option for being on a boat to be safe and fun at the same time. I used the same scarf to tie down my hair and used a pin to add some embellishment.

When you hop off the boat it’s time for dinner. Even though Canada Day weekend is a casual long weekend being fashionable is still acceptable. Keep on the shirt and the leggings and switch the sandals for the wedges. The scarf can now become a decorative piece by attaching it to the shirt and using a small clutch. Oh yeah, change up the hair.

 2night. 1 bag. 8 pieces. 4 looks.
 Well Done!

 Happy Canada’s Day.
Be safe.
Pack Light.
