I was so honored to attend the Christian Wijnants show during Paris fashion week. It is my first time attending Paris fashion week and to witness the Christian Wijnants collection fresh off the runway was a feather in my cap. But even though it felt like it, I wasn’t the only one there. The top editors, bloggers and buyers all waited patiently to enter the show and the energy was high.
Christian Wijnants is a designer from Belgium who has been making a name for himself by dominating his own lane in the fashion industry. I knew Christian Wijnants was a designer with a strong voice echoing through his prior collections but after attending the show, Christian Wijnants’ voice is more like a shout.
Prints were the center of the collection, paired with Jacquard knits. Cotton Trenches and Silk Voile made a contrast on the runaway and inspired me to wear my trench coat every day. The inspiration for the collection came from the Middle to the Far East. I could see this influence in the shoes, breezy fabrics and blue, green and pink color ways. I watched the collection and was immersed into another world of layering, wooden heels and crochet accessories.
