Denim Series- Floral Denim DIY Jacket

Filed in: Uncategorized

Yes, we are still talking denim every Monday. I am still in love with and inspired by, all of the denim looks I have seen  from a variety of designers. Remember, that you can be featured on the blog if you tag your denim look with #MCDDenim. Try something different with your denim and let me feature it.

Denim and floral prints? A fashion girl’s dream come true. Once again, Gucci has done this soo well this season. The pairing of denim with floral embroidery is a fun element that make denim chic and creative.

Though I love all things Gucci, it is pretty much all sold out. So instead of crying, I decided to do my own thing. I love a good DIY and am always prepared to recreate looks and designs. So I headed to Gap and picked up a simple distressed jean jacket. It was the perfect fit, soft and flexible. So the jacket was an easy find.

Ok, as for the patches, I had to hunt. On Queen and Spadina there are such great little junk sewing stores with all these nick nacks. I picked up a few patches that looked similar to the Gucci ones and decided they would be added to my jacket.
The patches were iron-on but to make sure they stayed on, I used some Gorilla glue to secure the patches to my jean jacket.

After waiting overnight, the jacket was ready. I put it on and my husband re-fell in love with me… I mean with denim jackets. He really liked it and though it looked cool. I still wasn’t convinced but once I stepped foot into Fairview Mall with my floral denim jacket, I knew it was a hit.

Gucci, I love you but you know sometimes you’re sold out. But that worked in my favor. I have a cool jacket with enough flowers for everyone.
