10 Reasons Why Your Should Stay at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach

​I landed in Singapore after a 17 hour flight. Direct. No stop overs.  I literally sat on a plane for 17 hours from San Francisco to Singapore. This was the longest flight I have ever taken. Singapore has been a dream destination of mine for a few years. I have always been intrigued by the food, people and beautiful architecture I have seen in books.  When the opportunity to actually visit Singapore came, I was extremely excited to visit. I emailed a few friends for recommendations, packed my bags and was on my way. The flight was a challenge but I knew I was going to relax at one of the most luxurious hotels in Singapore, JW Marriott Singapore South Beach.

After a short 14 minute ride from the airport, I was greeted by a 7 metre Kaleidoscope wall by South Korean Artist Lee Lee Nam in the lobby and from that moment, I knew JW Marriott Singapore South Beach was not only a hotel but an art gallery. I wasn’t wrong.  With every turn the walls were stacked to the ceiling with beautiful art pieces curated by JW Marriott.

At only two years old JW Marriott Singapore South Beach was built to commemorate the history of Singapore.  With 634 Guest rooms, 47 suites and 17 meeting rooms the hotel is built on reclaimed land. The exterior of the 1930s historic Drill Hall was preserved as an ode to Singapore’s history  while the interiors were renovated to host events, weddings and galas.

JW Marriott Singapore South Beach is one of the many JW Marriott hotels I have stayed at all over the world. Once again it was a welcoming experience with many “wow” moments. I didn’t want to keep these moments to myself. Here are the top 10 reasons why should you book your next stay with the JW Marriott Singapore South Beach.

There are Two Pools – You may stay at a hotel with one pool but imagine a hotel with two pools. There are two infinity pools at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach. One is covered with an awning and the other is an open air pool. Take your pick. You can tan all day or stay in the shade. These little details make JW Marriott Singapore South Beach so special. There are bars and food service near the pool so you can enjoy the pool and a bite to eat at the same time.

 SPA by JW- I have enjoyed many spa experiences at various hotels but my experience at the SPA by JW was definitely the best. When you enter the SPA by JW, you enter another world filled with date infused water and anti- gravity chairs. There are dozens of services available all built on four principles Calm, Indulge, Invigorate and Renew. SPA by JW has a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and rain showers.  I spent 6 hours enjoying all of these facilities in various combinations. The traditional 50-minute massage with Hazel was relaxing and invigorating. I had my own massage suite with a shower, locker and beauty bar. If you don’t have 50 minutes to spare, you can enjoy a 25-minute express massage and relaxation experience.

Perfect Location- When you are selecting a hotel you want to find a welcoming space in the center of everything you want to experience. The JW Marriott Singapore South Beach has all of your essentials as well as all of the historic buildings you want to visit. The historic Raffles Hotel is nearby, as well as the Suntec Singapore Convention Centre and shopping mall. The subway system is a few steps away from the hotel so you can get to your next meeting. The Marina Gardens, Helix bridge and Esplanade Theatre (The building was designed to actually look like two durian fruits) are walking distance. The Garden by the Bay is close by as well as the National Gallery of Singapore. Staying at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach means you will have everything you need to navigate the city.

​Superior Dining Experience – Have you ever tried Pineapple honey? I fell in love with it at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach. The JW Marriott Singapore South Beach is full of dining experiences. There are 9 dining options: Akira Back, Japanese cuisine, Beach Road Kitchen featuring a global menu, Court Martial bar, Tonic a gin-based cocktail room and my fav Media Bar featuring over 20 screens in the bar’s surface. Oh and there is a pizza oven and I love pizza. Yum!

Access to the Executive Lounge – I had access to the Executive Lounge which was a great place to grab a quick snack, host a meeting and lounge while reading the newspaper. In the evenings they hosted a happy hour and served canapes. There was hot food service, fruit station and vertical salad bar to enjoy. This was complimentary with access. It is totally worth it.

There is a Candy Bar in The Lobby- The lobby has a candy bar! Such a fun touch. It was super fun to pick up a few candies when heading out the door to meeting. The kids loved it. It is restocked daily. Fill up!

Art is Everywhere- The art at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach was breath taking. The hotel felt like an art gallery. I had the same feeling when I stayed at JW Marriott Marquis Dubai and I think this is the ambience JW Marriott aims to create for their guests.  JW Marriott Singapore South Beach houses a multi-million dollar art collection of over 30 pieces and installations from local and international artists. The art is a mainstay at all JW Marriott hotels.

Fantastic Staff – When you are staying at a hotel you want to be surrounded by excellent staff who are knowledgeable, helpful and kind. The staff at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach went above and beyond for me. They always had a smile on their faces, followed up on my requests and made excellent suggestions of places to eat in the city. One evening I was heading out for dinner and the concierge suggested I visit Violet Onh for a traditional Singapore meal. The food was awesome. Another staff member suggested I book a sightseeing tour with pick up location right across the street. It was the best tour I have taken while travelling internationally. The staff make the difference and the JW Marriott Singapore South Beach staff were exceptional.

​The View – I stayed in the Club Premier room on the 20th floor with one king bed. My room was the facing the Civilian war memorial, the National Gallery and Esplanade Theatre. The view was marvelous. I had a panoramic view of the Marina Bay on the waterfront. The city ​was so lush and the buildings varied in design and color. There was also a gorgeous view from both of the infinity pools at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach. – including the perfect view of one of the major racing turns during the annual Formula 1 Racing Event.

Building Design – The JW Marriott Singapore South Beach hotel spans three buildings giving guests a vertical and horizontal experience. The interiors are designed by French designer Philippe Starck and external design is created by British architects Foster and Partners. You can explore the hotel vertically and horizontally. Usually hotels are tall or extremely wide but finding a tall and wide hotel is very rare.

I have a lot more to share about my trip to Singapore but I think the highlight of my trip was my stay at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach. A hotel can make and break your vacation. Once you select a great hotel you have a great place of retreat after a long day of shopping, sightseeing and enjoying the city. JW Marriott Singapore South Beach was my retreat and made the difference during my stay.
