How to Wear a Floral Dress | Blue Floral Dress

If you have been checking out my instastories you may have seen me making this dress. I purchased the fabric from a warehouse and knew I had to make something over the top.  I hardly wear blue but as of late, it has been growing on me. Blue is a mute vibrant color and people say it looks good on me.

I had a wedding coming up and a photo shoot for my article in the San Francisco Chronicle and thought this fabric would be perfect.  To be honest, I do not know the names of fabrics that well but this fabric is very stiff so it would be perfect for a large ball gown skirt. It was also a super large piece of the fabric and would enough for a dramatic skirt. I saw the bow details on another dress online and took the idea and made it mine.

For the two events I styled the same blue floral dress two different ways.

The photo shoot look was full of personality and I wore my afro. My messy bun look for the wedding was sleek and great for the Toronto heat. Here are the details on each look:

San Francisco Chronicle Article Look Details

  • Afro Hair
  • Purple So Kate Shoes

Wedding Look Details

  • Side swoop Messy bun
  • Jimmy Shoe Anouks
  • Pearl Hair details
  •  YSL Clutch

Do you know the name of this type of fabric?

What do you think of this dress?
Do you want to see more dressed being made from scratch on Instastories?
