My California Themed Farewell Party

Gift bags anyone?

A few years ago a woman I really admired by the name of Yvonne Kai,  moved to California to attend FIDM. Before leaving she hosted a party called, “ California Dreamin”. It was a California themed party full of the dye shirts, fun food and sunglasses. I remember this party vividly.
I attended with my best friend EB. There were some other inspirational women in attendance:

Catriona of Coco & Cowe
Jennifer Le of I amJenniferLe
Shannae Ingleton

These woman have gone on to be moguls. Catriona is a mega influencer who owns various businesses and most recently, Halo PR firm. Jennifer Le is a shoe designer who self funded her  own shoe empire. You may have seen her designs on the Kardashians and Nicki Minaj. Shannae is a magazine powerhouse by day and streetstyle icon by night. She is also a mommy to be. And Yvonne… she took her hand-poured organic soap business to the big leagues and now it is sold at Bloomingdales.

When I first tested the waters with fashion in 2005, these were the women I looked up to. They were the ones I wanted to be like and now I am on my way to being on their level. After getting rejected from medical school without a valid reason, I took the leap into building my own personal brand.

Thank you Yvonnne.
Thank you Catriona.
Thank you Shannae
Thank you Jennifer.

Thank you to the many others. I appreciate you for putting the inspiration in my view.

Slowly… getting… too… emo in this post.

Thank you to our premiere sponsors: London Ivy Products and Beautiful Collection

I planned my own “ California Dreamin’” Farewell Party.
 24 women at a sleepover.
 4 Bedrooms
1 Ballroom
5 Bathrooms
Lots of fun to be had.

My guests were welcomed the mansion I selected with a map of California, with their assigned rooms listed.
Each room was named after a famous place in California, Hollywood,  Los Angeles, San Francisco and Beverly Hills

My friend Cherith brought her mobile nail salon and did nails all night. She even had a storefront called ” Punkey’s Nails hop”.  The jokes flowed just as much as a non-alocholic wine. The host of the night was my friend of 25 years, Tiffany of StylebyTiffanyDawn. She led all of the games and activities. The best game was the ” Make Aquila A Damn Song Game”. HAHAHA! The girls were divided into two groups and each group had to create a farewell song in my favourite style of music, TRAP. It was  hilarious. Head over to my Instagram for a clip of the songs they came up with.

Each person was given a gift bag filled with girlie treats from body chains to shower combs. Our gift bags were sponsored by London Ivy Products, a natural hair care company that I love and Beauty Collection INC, the beauty store of choice in Toronto. More on them later.
Thank you for filling our gift bags with things we love.

The following morning we woke up to a beautiful breakfast spread where we chatted more and ate.
It was my final hangout with my girls.
Very emotional and a beautiful evening/mornining with some of my closest and long time friends.

Here is the winning song of the night…

To the Tune of ” Come My Way”- Fetty Way

” Quilla Won’t you come my way
Driving down a San Fran Way
Living in a DogPatch way
But first of all Let us tell you this…

Wife by Night, Blogger by day
In Your Red Soles you Don’t play
Maybe you will come back with a bae
bae”
