Red Peplum Pant Suit

Every Monday I am featuring one of my favorite outfits that I have made over the years. I just love sharing the stories behind each one of these looks. This one is super special because I wore it to my cousin’s wedding this past summer. Atthe wedding I was going for the “ Lady in red” vibe and it worked. Fortunately, I get to wear it again ( Meaning that it still fits after a summer of treats) for the holiday season.

I know some girls don’t repeat outfits but when you make your own clothes you want to wear them again and again and again. There is a sense of pride that comes with crafting your own outfits and I never downplay it. I spend hours on making my clothes and they are treasured.

Onto the details… I bought the solid red fabric from my local fabric store and then wanted to make the peplum pieces in a print or lace. I found this lace at a fabric store, asked the lady to cut one yard and headed to the cash register. Once I got up there and saw her ring in the price of $99.99, I almost fainted.

Me: “ Ummmmm how much is that lace piece?”
Lady:” $99.99 per yard…”
Me: “ WHAT? I thought it said $19.99 per yard”
*Lady walks over the bolt of fabric and points at the price*
Lady: “ No it is $99.99”

When I say I almost toppled over, I had to hold myself up. $99.99 a YARD! I thought is was twenty bucks. This was NOT in the budget. I sucked it up, grabbed a sip of water and paid. The result was worth it.

For this holiday look, I mixed nude with red.  To compliment this red two-piece peplum suit, I wore my nude Valentino pumps.  Pairing this look with nude pumps puts all the attention on the outfit but the bow details on these shoes are the perfect nod to the holidays. Ladies it is time to bring out the red outfits and the shoes with bow details. It is officially Christmas!
