Sydney was the last stop of my South Pacific tour and I literally fell in love with Sydney.  I stopped in Sydney after my stay in New Zealand. I was there for 7 days and stayed right next to the Sydney Harbour.  Had the perfect view of the city and had access to all the cool sights. The weather was chilly but I came prepared. The food was endless and the fun was overflowing.

Sydney is super modern and very safe.  I appreciated all of the architecture from the bridges of the buildings, every structure had a purpose and was designed with such detail. At night I walked around by myself. I was cautious by never afraid. I love the feeling of walking around the city at night with a gelato in my hand. There were so many times I thought to myself, “ Aquila you are in Australia girl. Whoot Whoot”.

Here are my Top 5  Best Things To Do in Sydney Australia.

Top 5  Best Things To Do in Sydney Australia.

Stay at Pier 1 Hotel

I stayed at Pier 1 Hotel which just opened earlier that year. It was so lovely. Every night there was a party, wedding or press event so it was jumpin’ jumpin’. I saw so many brides and ran away from the Paparazzi everyday. Pier 1 Hotel was the hot spot.

Pier 1 Hotel was so close to everything. It is located in The Rocks, a new trendy area in Sydney filled with restaurants, boutiques and luxury shopping nearby.  Pier 1 Hotel is located just steps away from the Sydney Opera house, The ferry and the subway.

By the end of the week the hotel front door staff became my friends. They were always willing to give suggestions, direct us to the best spots for dinner and had unlimited chocolate covered strawberries available. Oh and the breakfast buffet was excellent with a self-serve juicer and quinoa scramble.

Bondi beach has always been a dream spot for me. So when I stepped on the sand I couldn’t believe I was there. We rented chairs and umbrellas from the vendors on the beach and picked up snacks from the Pavilion. The water was beautiful and calm but my concerns about the sharks prevented me from going in the water. Ha!

People were surfing and swimming but I enjoyed tanning on the beach and reading my book. I really wanted to take in the moment. I was in Sydney. On Bondi Beach. Living my dream.

Manly beach was also gorgeous but there is one major difference between Manly beach and Bondi beach… you can’t swim there. The water was way too rough and there were signs everywhere reminding us not swim or even go near the water. Even with no swimming I enjoyed shopping in the shops and boutiques filled with souvenirs and local designers.

Meet a Koala Bear At Featherdale Wildlife Park

Featherdale Wildlife Park was amazing. I would highly recommend visiting if you have children. I’m a grown up child so I loved it. Ha! There are animals everywhere and some aren’t even in cages. You can walk up to the Kangaroos and feed them.

Though Featherdale Wildlife Park is quite a distance from the Sydney City centre, it was worth the train ride. You get to interact with the animals and even book a private viewing of the Koala bears. There were lots of other Koala Bears at Featherdale Wildlife Park but they were sleeping the majority of the time. I was overjoyed to meet Cooper. He was so friendly and luckily was not sleeping. There are also snakes, turtles… take a look at my VLOG to see all the animals.

You must go to Featherdale Park when you visit Sydney.

Get Close to the Sydney Opera House

Honestly I am not an Opera fan but I am a fan of the Sydney Opera House. Ever since I was a child I marveled at its design. Seeing it in person was a dream come true.   It is huge and white during the day but at night it lights up with purple and pink lights.   I could see it from my hotel and there are people surrounding it at all times. It is truly the heart of Sydney Harbor.

It was even better having lunch right next to the Sydney Opera House. If you don’t go inside, at least dine right next to it.

Grab A Steak at Hurricane’s

Hurricane

If you love steak and ribs, this is the spot for you. I love steak and I love beef ribs so this was a major treat. Hurricane’s restaurant is known for its juicy steaks and endless assortment of ribs. There are locations everywhere and trust me you will need reservations.

Try and book a table overlooking the Sydney Harbour. It was a beautiful view and the food was a great compliment to the evening. If you don’t get reservations, it is worth it to wait in line. The food is just that good.

Have Lunch at the Fish Market

The Fish Market. Doesn’t sounds really appealing but trust me it was. My husband is a seafood lover and I secretly have become one due to his influence. The Fish Market is a seafood lover’s dream. So many different options though I must admit, some looked scary.

Beyond the food the Fish Market is a tourist attraction. It is so popular that the city of Sydney is moving its location closer to the city centre and to a bigger location. You will get a taste of the Fish Market on my Sydney VLOG. Pun intended

Sydney was remarkable.  The food, the people, the scenery and the animals made my trip so memorable. Sydney is now my list of top places to go.

How would I describe Sydney… I would say , Sydney is what London should be.
