I packed my two West Indian sized suitcases aka LARGE! First mistake!
I headed to my first stop London, England. All by myself. On Virgin Airlines. In the airport, my dad handed me 500 British Pounds. Some bills, some traveller’s cheques. Approximately $925 CAD. My Mom, Silent. She was probably a bit concerned. But I was ready.
Weird times.
This was the time of no iPhones, no iPads and no music to listen to on the plane. It was just me, the seat and the air hostess taking care of me. I ate ice cream bars and watched movies. Praise God, I arrived safely. But this was the time when you had to call your family to tell them “yuh reach” and not text them.
Got lost in Heathrow airport to the point where they paged me on the loud speaker,
” Qualia, Qualia please report to information”.
Who is Qualia?
I. Was. Hooked!
After that trip, I wanted to travel more and since then I have been given that opportunity to explore the world. Most importantly from all of my experiences, I have learned to be a better traveller and how to travel in style!
Each trip is different and requires me to pack various things. If I am heading to NYC for the weekend, I pack differently than heading to Dubai. However, I follow a guideline that has proven effective for me and ensures that I have everything needed for a successful stay.
