It was my 17th birthday and I saw this $150 GUESS purse in the store window. It was gold, one of my favorite colours, small and unique. I casually mentioned to my friend Patrice that I really liked it and she simply ignored me. It was an odd moment but totally normal. My love for fashion is known by all of my friends. So me being excited about another bag was not out of the ordinary.
On my birthday, Patrice presented me with a gift bag. I opened it and to my complete surprise she bought me the same gold GUESS purse. I was speechless and almost started crying because a $150 purse was a pretty penny back then. Patrice was working at a grocery store, so I knew that she had to work many hours to purchase this purse for me. I still remember how special I felt knowing that she would sacrifice so much for me.
I recently found the purse at my parent’s home and even after 13 years, the memory of that special moment filled mind.
Patrice is still one of my dearest friends to this day. Her son is my youngest God baby. And I still have the gold GUESS purse.
