It is me or do some blogs look the same? Black, white and grey outfits that are chic but lack colour. In my world, fashion is not black and white. It is full of colours and textures.  I see colour in all facets of life. My interpretation of fashion cannot be put in to the classic definition of trends. Instead, I seek to be the inspiration for trends, ideas and fashion editorials.

If you are looking for strictly black and white photos, you won’t find them here. The intricate fashion spreads of magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair and Harper Bazaar inspire me to add colour and dimension not only to my fashion selection but to my overall life.

It was time. Time for a new look, a new perspective on fashion and time for me to make a valuable contribution to the blogsphere.
Welcome to www.Mschurchdress.com.

“I appreciate the elegance of black and white styling but colour is the essence of my style. I will be featuring bold, bright and colorful outfits, including at least one item designed and made by me. Authentic, handmade, custom pieces have been influential in my style evolution. www.mschurchdress.com is an ode to fashion and my current fashion favorites”.

In 2013, I started blogging but neglected it for years. I didn’t think I had what it took to maintain a blog or write for a blog. I didn’t have the desire to fit into the limited box of fashion at the time. I didn’t have a photographer or writers or ideas.

I hid my blog from everyone.

But now  with more experience, exposure and knowledge, I want the world to know about my take on fashion, my highs and my lows, my successes and failures. My fashion highlights, my faith and what I have planned for the future.

“Everything that’s posted on the blog is selected and considered an integral element of my life. I curate all of the content on the blog to reflect who I am as a person and as a colourful fashion-focussed traveller.”
- Aquila Farrell

I sew my own clothing and rarely use patterns. Each outfit displayed on my blog has one piece that was designed and made with my own two hands. My sewing comes from my soul. I make the pieces that I have always dreamed of owning. Travel also influences my sewing because I invent looks to reflect the culture and essence of each country visited.

The design of my shoes and handbags are left to the notable shoe designer greats of our time. Valentino, Jimmy Coo, Christian Louboutin and Kurt Geiger are some of my favorite shoe designers. Pairing accessories and shoes  with my clothing is like adding the finishing stroke to a work of art. Vintage purses and handbags make the old, new again by pairing them with classic shoes and my custom clothing. Vintage pieces are budget friendly but can make a true difference in your overall aesthetic.

Each day my list of dream travel destinations increases along with my travel tips. I will continue to share my travel experiences with you, along other topics:

·      My Favs:  My favourite beauty products, restaurants, fashion pieces
·      My Style: Inside my closet and fashion collection
·      Treasured:  A description of my oldest but most loved pieces
·      DIYs:  Featuring fashion and home DIY projects
·      iTravel: Recap on my travel excursions, travel tips and travel experiences
·      Diary Beth: Exclusive notes
written in my daily planner and diary

The list does not stop there. Stay tuned to see what other types of posts are brewing. As I share with you, be prepared to share your experiences with me. Let’s use this blog as a place to dialogue.

I grabbed this underused charcoal Massimo Dutti blazer from my husband’s closet and transformed it into a flowery masterpiece. I sewed  30 flowers onto the front of the blazer to make it reminiscent of a classic Elie Saab or Giambattista Valli design.
Ripped jeans have been seen on the runway and streets for numerous seasons. My jeans are from
H & M. I rolled the hem, put on a belt( also from H &M) and these jeans quickly became a stylish streetwear piece. My suede hot pink Manolo Blahniks were an easy pick to match the hand sewn flowers on my blazer. The cat eye shades are from the markets on Queen  & Spadina in Toronto. You can always find a quick, inexpensive trendy accessory at Queen & Spadina.
My FitBit and wedding rings are practically glued to my body. Ha! I wear them all the time.

This is the start of a new season, a new fashion season where colour reigns.
More fashion, more travel and endless colour.
