Zac Posen – New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017

When I think about great American Fashion designers, I think about Zac Posen. He has set the standard for true design with his signature gowns and suits. The interesting thing about Zac Posen is how young he is yet experienced enough to design and create gowns with the most seams you have every seen in your life.

For me, it is all about the creation of the clothing. I sew and have been sewing for many years. When I look at an article  of clothing, the design and structure are the first things I see. Zac Posen also values the craftsmanship of clothing because he pays the utmost attention to each seam, each hem and each button hole.

To attend a Zac Posen show during NYFW was a major deal because it was an opportunity I have been waiting for as a blogger and fashion lover. I have been to New York for fashion shows with Marchesa but a New York Fashion Week Show is the pinnacle of fashion and the fashion industry. It was held at Spring Studios which I must say was a breathtaking, sleek venue.

Front Row at Zac Posen with Blogger and Stylist TuxedoSergio

As I sat in my seat I was nervous with all the energy in the room and living in the moment. Most of all, I wanted to see the fashion! I sat with my friend and fellow blogger Tuxedo Sergio and we were silent yet full of energy. Usually we are chatting all the time but I think it was the suspense and excitement. The room was filled with the likes of Uma Thurman, stylist and style icon June Ambrose and American’s Next Top Model’s, Ms Jay.

The lights turned down. The music started. We were ready.

On the runway before the show started.

It was an honour to sit front row and really take in all of the looks.  The runway was filled with glamourous ideas of beauty through the eyes of Zac Posen. Imagine pleated Broacade, embroidered organza and nude chiffon.  Zac’s signature use of traditional Japanese style design was once again incorporated in dresses, short shorts and skirts.  Eyelet was elevated to luxury status as it was shaped to form ballgown skirts and dresses.

Gold embellished corals, mint green, white and lilac were the hues of choice. Cotton motorcycle jackets with match pants and the tiniest shorts, came down the runway without apology.

To top it all off, each model work a modest Christian Louboutin gladiator sandal to either match the print of their clothing or complimented it to the Tee. I was in amazement at the lovely mix of all races of women walking down on runaway all oozing beauty and timelessness.

The show was about 30 minutes long but it felt like a night’s dream.
I fully emerged all of my senses into what I was seeing, hearing and feeling.

Zac Posen, Thank you for having me.
You are the King of gowns.

Looking forward to next season.
