To attend the Zang Toi show during New York Fashion Week, it was more than a show. It was an inside view into the House of Toi. The theme of the collection was Luxe Life on Lake Garda. It featured vast combinations of black and white with accent colors such as green the blue. The lushness of the green fabrics used reminded me of emerald tones and green palm trees. The blue colorstory ranged from baby blue to cobalt. Both colors stood out like a highlighter on a blank page.
Kimono and caftans were shown in many colorways and fabrics. Some were baby blue and white or my fav green with black lace on the hem. The handkerchief skirts with Zang sketched prints were a refreshing take on the traditional ball gown with symmetrical and asymmetrical hems. Wool sweaters with vertical parallel lines hugged the frame of the models. Trousers swayed down the runway with matching jackets or capes. The strong all white looks made me want to wear all white after labour day. The male formal suit was striking and tailored to precision.

Walking backstage to get up close to the pieces I looked to my right and saw a crowd of security personnel. As I looked in the middle of the crowd there was a familiar face. It was Patti LaBelle! With my loudest whispering voice, I said “ We love You Patti”. Someone tapped her shoulder and pointed me out. She grabbed my hands, we looked each other in the eye and had a moment. I told her how much of an inspiration we was to me. What a full circle moment.
Congrats to Zang Toi on the grand opening of your new boutique and your elegant collection.
It was a joy to witness.
