5 THINGS YOU NEED ON A 17 HOUR FLIGHT

Filed in: Travel

I went to Singapore last month. To be honest, I was anxious about the 17 hour flight. Yes, 17 hours direct. No stopover. 17 hours straight.  I have been on 14 hour flights but 17 hours seemed like a new challenge. But I made it and really want to share with you the 5 things you need to make it through a super long flight.

5 Things You Need on a 17 Hour Flight

A Few Books- Bring a variety of books ( or e-books) so when you get bored of one book you have another option. Set a goal of finishing one book during your round trip flight. Books help you get through the flight and at the end you have finished a book you may have been trying to finish for months. Some of my fav books are She Means Business by Carrie Green and What I Know For Sure by Oprah Winfrey.

Variety of Music- Music a key. I literally listened to hundreds of songs and had a mini jam session in my seat. They calmed me down and got my mind focussed. I start my flights with gospel to get me centered and then I slowly start listening to my current favs such as Walk it like I talk it by MIGOS and Sorry by Demi Lovato.

WIFI – If the airline offers WIFI, get it. This is not the time to cheap out. With WIFI you can stream your fav shows, prep e-mails and text family and friends. Time goes faster with WIFI. On my flight to Singapore I had WIFI and it made a difference. I prepped this e-mail (and a dozen others) on my flight.

Adult Coloring Book- I know this sounds cheesy but coloring calms me down. It also gets the creative juices flowing while 35,000 feet up in the air. Head to your local dollar store, pick up a mini size adult coloring book, a few colored pencils and enjoy.

Water- Drink as much water as you can. Ask the flight attendant for your own bottle and sip away. By the time you arrive to your destination you will be hydrated and energized simply because you sipped water on your flight.

Long flights can be daunting but these essentials will make your next long flight a breeze. Let me know which one of my suggestions you are going to try on your next flight.

Long flights are so tough. I have an adult coloring book and that would be a perfect thing to bring, along with your other suggestions. I plan to go back to Hawaii so I’ll be sure to bring along these items. Thanks!

I love the water part. I never make any travel without two bottles of water by my side. It’s frustrating with no liquid at hand. Thanks for sharing these tips.

No flight is ever complete without a good book. I also like to bring snacks just in case the flight attendants run out of what I want by the time they get to my seat.

Adult coloring book is a great idea. I don’t know why I didn’t think about it earlier.
